Mid-life
I don’t recognize myself anymore and that’s not a bad thing
There was a time not long ago when I looked in the mirror and thought,
“Who the hell is that?”
My face looked tired.
My body felt foreign.
My brain was foggy, and unpredictable.
I was losing words mid-sentence. Forgetting appointments. Feeling completely disconnected from myself.
At first, I thought I was just stressed.
Then I blamed burnout.
Then I wondered if I was depressed.
Then I feared something more serious that no one was catching. Like maybe, early onset dementia.
It took years (yes, years) to figure out what was really going on.
Menopause.
That’s it. That’s what had snuck in like a thief and stolen the version of me I once knew.
This is the part no one prepares you for
They warn you about the hot flashes.
They joke about night sweats.
They whisper about dryness or mood swings.
But what they don’t say?
Is how menopause messes with your identity.
They don’t tell you:
You might gain 30–60 pounds without changing how you eat
You might cry every morning and not know why
You might lose interest in sex, food, fun, and everything you used to love
You might feel numb for weeks
You might want to blow up your business, your marriage, your life
You might feel shame so deep you stop talking to people altogether
And they definitely don’t talk about how all of this shows up while you’re still trying to run a business, lead a team, raise a family, and keep your sh*t together.
Midlife hits different when you’re a high-achiever
I didn’t take sick days. I didn’t take breaks. I wasn’t the type to “fall apart.”

Until I did.
And I was so embarrassed.
Because everything around me still looked successful.
My business was growing.
My social media looked fine.
But behind the scenes?
I was sleeping all day while my team ran the business.
I was pretending I was “just taking a break.”
I was dragging myself out of bed 10 minutes before my husband and daughter got home just so they wouldn’t know I’d done nothing all day.
I used to be sharp. Creative. Motivated.
But then I felt like a foggy, emotional stranger in my own life.
If you’ve ever felt like this, please hear me: you are not crazy.
You’re not failing.
You’re not broken.
You’re not lazy, ungrateful, weak, or making excuses.
You’re likely in perimenopause or post-menopause, and you’ve been taught that it’s just a “natural transition” you should quietly manage on your own.
Let me be the one to say what most people won’t:
This is hard.
And most of us are going through it alone.
Menopause doesn’t just change your body. It changes your brain, your relationships, your confidence, your identity.
It’s not “just hormones.” It’s a full-body, full-life reset.
And when you add entrepreneurship into the mix it becomes a perfect storm.
The midlife/menopause identity crisis is real.
There comes a moment when you stop wanting what you used to want.
The dream business you built might not light you up anymore.
The way you worked, no longer sustainable.
The things you said yes to for years now feel like a suffocating cage.
Menopause forces a reckoning.
With your time.
With your energy.
With your boundaries.
With your purpose.
And maybe, for the first time, you’re asking questions like:
What do I want now?
Who am I without the hustle?
What does enough look like?
What if I stopped caring what people think and did it my way?
This is the power of menopause.
Yes, it’s brutal.
But it’s also a portal. A mirror. A reset.
It strips away all the roles and expectations and reveals something raw, real, and wildly honest.
You get to rebuild from here.
Not from obligation or people-pleasing, but from truth.
I rebuilt my business to support the woman I am now.
The one who needs naps sometimes.
The one who doesn’t take early calls.
The one who forgets words but brings wisdom.
The one who can’t do 12-hour days anymore, but can create more impact in 3 focused hours than she ever did hustling around the clock.
I stopped chasing someone else’s version of success.
I started building around me.
And everything changed.
Here’s what I want you to know, if you’re in this season:
You are not alone.
You are not too old.
You are not behind.
And you don’t have to choose between running a successful business and honouring your body.
You can do both.
But not if you keep pretending nothing’s changed.
So let’s stop pretending.
Let’s stop hiding.
Let’s talk about the real stuff: the grief, the rage, the fog, the lost sense of self, the quiet knowing that something’s got to shift.
Because this is a beginning.
Not the sexy, sparkly kind.
But the grounded, soul-deep kind that rebuilds you stronger, wiser, and more aligned than ever before.
You don’t have to navigate this alone.
That’s why I do what I do.
Because we need more spaces where women can be both powerful and falling apart.
Where we can run businesses and admit we’re struggling.
Where menopause isn’t whispered about, instead it’s boldly named, claimed, and understood.
This is your midlife era. Own it. Rewrite it. Rise in it.
